OXON HILL, MD – A shooting at the MGM National Harbor Hotel & Casino has resulted in one fatality, according to Prince George’s County police. The incident, which occurred around 11:55 a.m. in the casino’s food court, left an adult male in his 20s deceased.
Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene shortly after 12:20 p.m., with police arriving to initiate an investigation. Authorities initially reported a second adult male sustained a graze wound, though Chief George Nader later clarified that no one else was injured in the shooting.
Chief Nader addressed the media, confirming the victim’s age and stating that the shooting was not a random act. “It wasn’t random,” Nader said.
“It appeared they were looking for this person and chased him down.” He further elaborated that the incident was targeted, suggesting it would have occurred regardless of the location once the individuals involved were in the same vicinity.
The only area affected by the shooting was the food court. The remainder of the hotel and casino has remained open to the public. As a precautionary measure, some local schools were temporarily closed, but Chief Nader assured the community there is no ongoing threat.
The suspect remains at large, with a search currently underway. Police believe the individual fled the scene in a vehicle.
