SC National Guard deployed to D.C. for 90 days

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – More than 300 South Carolina Army National Guard soldiers departed for Washington, D.C. Thursday morning, a week after two Guardsmen were shot in the nation’s capital.

The deployment, ordered by the governor, sends the troops on a 90-day mission as part of President Trump’s initiative to “Keep D.C. Safe and Beautiful.”

Although the trip had been scheduled for months, soldiers said the recent shooting has weighed on them and their families. Many expressed that the families of the two Guardsmen remain in their prayers…
