A stolen car was recovered and four people were arrested Friday night in Downtown Silver Spring after a Montgomery County Police officer received an alert from in-car license plate reader technology, according to District 3 Commander Captain Jason Cokinos.
Per Cokinos, around 9 p.m. on December 6, officers from the 3rd District’s Central Business District (CBD) team were conducting proactive patrol along the Fenton Street corridor when an officer’s automated license plate reader signaled a “hit” on a vehicle traveling directly ahead. The car was confirmed to be stolen.
Additional units responded, and officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Whole Foods Market at 833 Wayne Avenue. Four subjects were safely taken into custody at the scene, and police say the vehicle’s ignition showed clear signs of tampering…
