Homeowner, home providers working on squatter legislation following 7News reports

WASHINGTON (7News) — There have been more calls and demands for change following 7News’ exclusive reporting on a squatter in a Northeast D.C. home.

7News learned about a group of local homeowners, including those in small multi-family buildings, who said they plan to present squatting legislation to the council as early as next week.

They said their focus is to make sure trespassers are treated as trespassers and don’t automatically gain protections that impact local D.C. families. They want support and repercussions that are balanced for both sides…
