Three Arrested Following Navy Yard Shootout in Southeast DC, Multiple Firearm Charges Announced

Metropolitan Police have confirmed the arrest of three individuals following a shootout that took place in the vicinity of the Navy Yard on L Street, Southeast. According to the official MPD press release, the incident, which led to two men hospitalised with gunshot wounds, occurred on Thursday, at around 1:51 p.m. Officers who arrived on scene found one man injured, while another victim presented himself at a local hospital shortly after.

The subsequent investigation by MPD detectives ascertained that the wounds were the result of an exchange of gunfire between the two injured parties. Arrested were 18-year-old Jalen Williams-Austin, from Woodbridge, VA, and 20-year-old Marquise Plater, from Northeast, facing a litany of charges including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. Ivana Rucker, also 18 and a Woodbridge resident, was charged in connection with the incident.

Specific charges laid against Williams-Austin and Plater extend to Carrying a Pistol Without a License, violations of the National Firearms Act, and Unlawful Discarding of Firearms/Ammunition, among others, as per the MPD. They are further accused of possessing a large-capacity ammunition feeding device and receiving stolen property.
