BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement as extreme cold descends upon Maryland.
Forecasters say wind chill values will dip between -5° and 5°F across much of Maryland, northern Virginia, eastern West Virginia, and Washington D.C. on Sunday evening. Ridges above 1500 feet in elevation may have wind chill values of around -10°F.
Residents venturing outside are reminded to wear a thick coat, hat, and gloves to prevent hypothermia and make sure animals have a warm, dry shelter with unfrozen water. Winds will ease after midnight but air temperatures will still be in the teens…
