‘Going to die tonight’: Man kidnaps, assaults ex-girlfriend in DC. Bystander rescues woman after escape attempt

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A 38-year-old Chantilly man was sentenced to six years after he kidnapped, strangled and threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend in 2024, a release states. The victim was saved by a passerby in DC after trying to flee a vehicle.

On May 9, 2024, Ahmed was arrested after multiple protective order violations and being charged with assault against his ex-girlfriend, according to evidence presented at trial. The following day, the victim got into his car, believing they would discuss their relationship in the parking lot outside her Manassas home.

Instead, Ahmed drove off while the victim was in the car, telling her that they both were “going to die tonight,” and said if she was going to charge him with abduction, then he was going to do it.

The 38-year-old man then drove onto Interstate-66 and took the victim into the District, where he repeatedly assaulted her and threatened to kill her…
