Man ambushes, kills victim in DC shooting, officials say

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A man was sentenced on Dec. 19 after ambushing and killing Daquan Garner, who was sitting in a vehicle, the United States Attorney’s Office said.

On April 30, 2024, near 1501 North Capitol Street, NE, Washington, D.C., Maurice Corbin approached Garner while he was in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle. The 47-year-old man fired multiple shots at Garner through the passenger window, killing him.

Corbin pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder while armed in October. Corbin was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
