Gas Prices Plunge To New Multi-Year Low

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The nationwide average for regular gas is at its lowest level in 1,681 days – and trending lower, with Indiana’s AAA gas average $2.72 as of Wednesday, Dec. 24. According to GasBuddy, average gas prices have dipped below $3 per gallon in 37 states, below $2.75 per gallon in 22 states, and below $2.50 per gallon in five states.

In fact, Americans can even find gas below $2 per gallon at some stations in at least four states, with prices as low as $1.69 per gallon in Colorado.

Gasoline costs vary widely by state, reflecting differences in refinery access, fuel regulations and transportation costs. Hawaii continued to post the nation’s highest average Tuesday, Dec. 23 at about $4.44 per gallon, followed by California at $4.30 and Washington at $3.92. Oklahoma reported the lowest statewide average at about $2.30, with Arkansas and Iowa close behind at roughly $2.42…
