WASHINGTON (7News) — Friday travel plans should come with a little extra caution. An ice storm warning is posted for eastern Garrett and western Allegany counties from 8 a.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Saturday. Be forewarned, this is the type of setup that can get messy in a hurry. In the warned areas, the expectation is mainly freezing rain, with ice around a quarter inch — and a few spots could end up higher if heavier bands last longer.
Elsewhere across the rest of northern Maryland, parts of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, and portions of Virginia, a winter weather advisory has been posted for a mix of sleet and freezing rain. Overall moisture totals look higher farther east, but more of that may fall as sleet, while farther west leans more toward freezing…..
