Crain Highway Crackdown: Woman Faces DUI And Drug Charges After Early Morning Stop

WALDORF, Md. — An Upper Marlboro woman is facing multiple drug and impaired-driving charges after a traffic stop in Charles County led to her arrest early Christmas Eve, according to charging documents.

Court records show Cora Elizabeth Wood, 61, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance not marijuana, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving while impaired by drugs and alcohol, driving while impaired by a controlled dangerous substance, and speeding.

According to a statement of probable cause, a Charles County sheriff’s deputy observed a blue Hyundai Elantra traveling 72 mph in a posted 45 mph zone shortly before 3 a.m. on Dec. 24, 2025, near Crain Highway and Substation Road in Waldorf.
