Off-Duty D.C. Police Sergeant Charged After Alleged Route 50 Road-Rage Incident

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — An off-duty Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department sergeant has been charged following an alleged road-rage incident on U.S. Route 50 in which a crowbar and a firearm were reportedly brandished, according to Maryland State Police.

The accused, Kalia Crews, 29, of Annapolis, was arrested this week and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or violent crime, court records show. She was transported to the Jennifer Road Detention Center following her arrest.

The charges stem from an incident reported on Dec. 18, 2025, along westbound Route 50 near Interstate 97. According to Maryland State Police, troopers from the Annapolis Barrack responded after a victim reported being involved in a road-rage encounter during which the suspect allegedly displayed a crowbar and later a firearm.
