WASHINGTON — Presidents Day is a holiday in the United States that honors the country’s leaders. In 2026, the holiday will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 16. It happens every year on the third Monday in February, helping create a long weekend for many people.
Presidents Day is sometimes called Washington’s Birthday because it was originally created to honor George Washington, the first president of the United States. His real birthday was Feb. 22, but the holiday was changed so it would always be on a Monday.
