WASHINGTON (7News) — As Kenyan McDuffie wraps his time as an at-large councilmember with the D.C. Council, the chairman is considering who to nominate to replace him temporarily.
Chairman Phil Mendelson said Monday some 29 people have expressed interest in the seat. It’s up to the chairman to bring a nominee to the council to vote. The nominee will need at least seven votes to be appointed to the at-large seat. The council appointee will serve through a special election in June, and whoever wins that will serve the remainder of the term, which is up next January.
