Nebraska National Guard to deploy 200 troops to Washington D.C.

LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – Gov. Jim Pillen announced Thursday that the Nebraska National Guard have been requested to support an “ongoing critical mission” in Washington, D.C.

Lt. Gov. Joe Kelly said the state was asked by its senior leaders at the National Guard Bureau in Washington whether the Nebraska National Guard had the capacity to send troops to the nation’s capital

Roughly 2,500 troops from 10 other states were deployed to Washington on Aug. 1 and tasked with guarding monuments in the area…
