18-year-old killed in first DC homicide of 2026, police say

WASHINGTON — DC Police said Malik Moore, an 18-year-old from Northeast D.C., was the first homicide victim inside the District in 2026, identifying the young adult who was shot and killed overnight on Wednesday.

Homicide detectives were still working to learn exactly what happened and are asking for the public’s help to find the suspect responsible for the shooting.
