DC residents face a $25 to $150 fine if they don’t clear snow from their sidewalks

WASHINGTON (7News) — District property owners and business owners may face a fine if they don’t clear ice and snow from the sidewalks of their property, as the Department of Small and Local Business Development is reminding residents.

According to D.C. law, property owners must remove snow and ice from sidewalks surrounding their properties within the first eight hours of daylight after a storm ends.

Failure to do so can result in fines of $150 for commercial properties and $25 for residential properties…
