Grocery Grab Gone Wrong: Two Men Charged After Indian Head Store Theft

INDIAN HEAD, Md. — Two men from southern Maryland have been charged in connection with a theft and property damage incident at a grocery store in Indian Head, according to court records.

Police identified the suspects as Darmarius Leon Smothers, 36, of Accokeek, and Kurt Douglas Woods, 40, of Bryans Road. Charging documents state the incident occurred on Jan. 19, 2026, at the Oasis Fresh Foods Market along Indian Head Highway.

According to a statement of probable cause, Charles County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the store after receiving a report of a theft in progress.
