DC mayor waives fines for failure to remove snow

WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, we reported that DC officials began issuing fines to businesses that hadn’t cleared the sidewalk in front of their storefronts. The following day, the mayor’s office announced it would be waiving the fines.

Under DC code, business owners and residents have eight hours after a storm ends to clear sidewalks up to the curb.

Across the District, businesses have been hit with $150 fines. Residents could face $25 fines, but DPW has not started enforcing in residential areas…
