Fire at Kensington Healthcare Center leaves firefighter hurt; 13 people evaluated

KENSINGTON, Md. (DC News Now) — A firefighter was taken to the hospital, and over a dozen people were evaluated after a fire broke out at the Kensington Healthcare Center on Wednesday night.

Details are limited; however, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) was dispatched to the center on McComas Avenue for an automatic fire alarm. Once on the scene, firefighters located the blaze in a patient’s room, where a mattress had caught fire.

Officials said that 13 people were evaluated at the scene, and one firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries…
