1 hospitalized after car slammed into tree, caught fire in Potomac

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — One person was taken to the hospital Monday morning after a car crashed into a tree and caught fire in Montgomery County.

Details about what led up to the crash are limited; however, Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said units were dispatched to River Road and Stoney Creek Road around 7:45 a.m. on Feb. 9.

There, first responders found a car that had crashed into a tree in flames.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, and one person was taken to the hospital. Piringer said the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
