In August, we shared that Call Your Mother Deli would be returning to Bethesda with a new, permanent downtown location at 4828 St. Elmo Ave. A $475,000 permit has now been issued for construction, signaling that work is set to begin. While an exact opening date has not been announced, an opening later this year is expected.
The space was most recently home to Hardwood Artisans and has also previously housed Design Within Reach and Johnny Rockets. Last year, Call Your Mother relocated its popular “Lil’ Deli” mobile trolley after roughly five years at the corner of Old Georgetown Road and Greentree Road to a new home in Riverdale in Prince George’s County.
Founded in 2016, Call Your Mother has built a loyal following for its signature wood-fired bagels, a hybrid of New York and Montreal styles. The menu features creative bagel sandwiches such as the fan-favorite Royal Palm with smoked salmon and the Sun City, known for its sweet and spicy kick.
