75-Year-Old Hiker Injured After 30-Foot Fall

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded around 2pm on Thursday to the Burma Road Trail off MacArthur Boulevard in the Potomac area for an injured hiker who fell approximately 30 feet down an embankment.

The patient, a 75-year-old man, was located by crews and transported by MCFRS EMS as a Priority 2 patient. Due to the steep terrain, technical rescue personnel were dispatched to conduct a slope evacuation. About 20 firefighters and rescue personnel were on scene, with multiple units and specialized equipment responding to assist with the rescue operation.
