Sandy Marks Wins Democratic Firehouse Primary for Alexandria City Council Sandy Mark

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Sandy Marks has secured the Democratic nomination for Alexandria City Council after winning Saturday’s firehouse primary.

According to results released tonight by the Alexandria Democratic Committee, Marks led the five-candidate field with just under 40 percent of the vote. She earned 1,573 votes in the contest, finishing ahead of Tim Laderach, who received 947 votes. Roberto Gomez followed with 876 votes, while Charles Sumpter collected 467 votes. Cesar Madison Tapia received 112 votes.

Nearly 4,000 Democrats participated in the primary. Of the 3,975 ballots cast, more than 1,500 voters cast ballots at Beatley Library, over 1,200 voted at Chick Armstrong Recreation Center, and just under 1,200 participated online…
