Man convicted in 2010 killing of Montgomery County woman sentenced to 25 years

ROCKVILLE, Md. A man found guilty in the 2010 murder of a Montgomery County woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

What we know:Jorge Rueda Landeros was convicted of second‑degree murder last November in the killing of 52‑year‑old Sue Marcum. She was found beaten with a liquor bottle and strangled inside her home on Massachusetts Avenue in the Glen Echo area of Bethesda on Oct. 25, 2010.

The backstory:Prosecutors said Landeros, who taught Marcum yoga and Spanish, developed a romantic relationship with her. They said the two had been drinking from shot glasses before the attack, and Landeros later staged the scene to look like a break‑in and burglary gone wrong.

Marcum was a longtime accounting professor at American University.
