WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man was sentenced to 25 years in prison after shooting a man while watching a fight.
The incident happened on June 12, 2023, when 49-year-old David Pena watched his daughter and her friend physically fight to settle a disagreement they were having. As Pena watched, he got angry and shot another spectator, Maurice Robinson, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C. (USAO).

The USAO said Robinson attempted to run away, but Pena shot him in the back four times, killing him on the spot.
Pena was convicted on Nov. 25, 2025, for manslaughter, assault and firearm offenses. He was sentenced on Feb. 27 to 14.5 years in prison. Another 25 years were requested…
