Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a scrap pile fire near the intersection of Gude Drive and Dover Road in Rockville.
The incident occurred at approximately 14,900 Old Dover Road, where a metal scrap pile caught fire. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, firefighters arrived with five engines, an aerial tower, a rescue squad, a safety officer and a battalion chief. Authorities said no structures were involved in the fire. Crews placed water on the flames and were able to contain the fire. Smoke from the incident was visible from miles away, according to officials. No injuries were reported.
