WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A 32-year-old D.C. man was sentenced Friday after he strangled his girlfriend until she blacked out inside a hotel.
A judge handed down the 10-month sentence after Marcus Hazel pleaded guilty to strangulation.
According to evidence, around 9 a.m. on Nov. 28, 2025, Hazel and his girlfriend were at the Gateway Hotel on New York Avenue when he became upset about losing his phone. The woman offered to let him use her phone until he found his own.
