WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A petition to keep the lawn space open at Meridian Hill Park, also known as Malcolm X Park, continues to garner more signatures.
Members of the community said the National Park Service plans to completely close the popular community space for several months. The timeline for this possible NPS closure plan created cause for concern as well as the fact community members said there was no community input.
A change.org petition created Monday night opposes this plan, obtaining more than 2,700 signatures. Residents in the area said the petition showed how much the park means to the community…
