Eight DC teens arrested; officers assaulted in SW Waterfront fights

WASHINGTON (7News) — Metropolitan Police arrested eight teens Saturday night after responding to several fights in the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood of Washington, D.C., between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., according to a department spokesman.

The first incident happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Canal Street SW, where officers observed a large fight. Police arrested three girls for affray: a 17-year-old from Northwest D.C., a 15-year-old from Southeast D.C., and a 12-year-old from Southeast D.C.

About 8:40 p.m., officers observed another large fight near First Street and N Street SW. Police said a 15-year-old boy from Northeast D.C. ignored multiple commands to disperse and assaulted an officer. He was arrested for assault on a police officer…
