WASHINGTON — Newly released body camera footage shows the moment Homeland Security agents shot into a car during a traffic stop in Northeast D.C. last year.
The shooting happened along Benning Road NE on Oct. 17, 2025, around 8:45 p.m. On Monday, the Metropolitan Police Department released three videos on YouTube regarding the shooting, which they call a “Serious Use of Force.”
According to MPD, officers pulled over a Dodge Durango for an illegal tint and a lack of a front license plate. The traffic stop happened while working with federal partners, including Homeland Security. At one point during the traffic stop, a Homeland Security agent shot multiple times, hitting the car and avoiding the driver. Afterward, the driver was charged with fleeing from a law enforcement officer in a motor vehicle and leaving after colliding. All charges were later dropped…
