Woman who died in Chevy Chase house fire trying to save cat identified

CHEVY CHASE, Md. (7 News) — A woman who died Friday morning after she went back inside her burning home in Chevy Chase to save her cat has been identified as 55-year-old Karen Elsa Carsten, police said.

Montgomery County police announced Monday they were teaming up with fire investigators to conduct a death investigation.

Police added that no foul play was currently suspected in Carsten’s death.
