There’s a changing of the leaves on Rockville Pike’s tea scene. Molly Tea, a Chinese chain known for its floral-forward drinks, opened this week next to Wegmans. The menu leans aromatic and a little adventurous, with options like gardenia iced tea, white champaca matcha and pistachio jasmine coconut. Meanwhile, just down the Pike, Ten Ren Tea & Ginseng has quietly closed after two decades at Wintergreen Plaza. The closing comes less than a year after HeyTea opened on the opposite side of Wintergreen, drawing crowds for its cheese foam tea and social media savvy. Ten Ren also sold bubble tea, but the shop was better known for its deep selection of Taiwanese loose-leaf teas — and for teaching customers how to brew them properly.
