Honor Flight Arizona will be launching its first standalone charter flight on Monday, as the nonprofit will take war veterans on a three-day trip from Phoenix to Washington, D.C.
A group of 91 war veterans will be going on a trip on Allegiant Air from Phoenix Sky Harbor to the nation’s capital, which will last until Wednesday. As part of the trip, the veterans will be honored for their service as they visit their war memorials and will be present during the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery, according to a news release.
Of the 91 veterans, 13 served in the Korean War, while 78 served in the Vietnam War. Four of the 91 veterans served in both wars. The oldest veteran on the trip is a 97-year-old Korean War veteran…
