RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A man who reported that a fanny pack containing about $30,000 in cash disappeared from a Riviera Beach Wawa later recovered the money after police tracked down the person who had taken the bag from the restroom, according to a Riviera Beach Police Department report.
The incident was reported May 3 at the Wawa at 7289 Garden Road. Police initially classified the case as grand theft involving $10,000 to $20,000, though the report listed the stolen value as $30,000. The case was later determined to be lost property, not a theft, after the money was returned, according to a supplemental police report.
According to the report, Mohammed Azzam Bazar told police he went into the men’s restroom around 8:50 a.m. carrying a black fanny pack with about $30,000 in cash. Bazar told officers he used the large stall, then left the restroom, exited the store and headed to Coral Springs before realizing the bag was missing…
