A Florida woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for the death of a social media influencer who died after receiving illegal silicone injections in a California hotel room.
Vivian Alexandra Gomez, 53, received her sentence on June 15. The Royal Palm Beach resident was previously convicted of felony involuntary manslaughter and practicing medicine without a license. Gomez was unlicensed when she administered the gluteal injections to 34-year-old Christina Ashten Gourkani, an OnlyFans model who had amassed a large online following after undergoing multiple surgeries to resemble celebrity Kim Kardashian.
The incident occurred on April 19, 2023. Prosecutors stated that Gomez traveled from Florida to California specifically to perform the underground cosmetic procedure. Shortly after receiving the injections inside a hotel room, Gourkani suffered respiratory failure and lost consciousness. Her fiancé, who was present during the procedure, called 911. Gourkani was pronounced dead the following day, April 20, at Mill Peninsula Hospital.
San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe later confirmed that Gourkani died from cardiac arrest, and prosecutors alleged that silicone was found in her bloodstream. Summarizing the event on X, the District Attorney’s office wrote: “April ’23, she flew to SF airport and administered gluteal injections to the victim at a hotel. The victim became immediately ill & died of respiratory failure.”…
