Investigators say the toddler and a sibling had been at a babysitter’s house at the time of the incident. The babysitter had stepped out and left the children in the care of their spouse. The spouse stayed upstairs while the children played downstairs, coming down periodically to check on them and hand out snacks. During one of those checks, the spouse found the 3-year-old with their head stuck inside a kitchen play set. The spouse pulled the child free and began performing life-saving measures until first responders arrived.
According to police, the toddler’s sibling told investigators that the child’s toys had fallen into the play kitchen set, and the toddler got stuck while trying to retrieve them.
