Palm Beach County Zoning Commission Approves AI Data Center Moratorium

Palm Beach County’s zoning commission is unanimously recommending a one-year moratorium on large-scale data centers.

During a public hearing yesterday, they approved a proposed definition of what a large scale data center is, making the proposed moratorium apply to any new data centers that are expected to use 50 megawatts of electricity or more. But several commissioners say that limiting the definition to facilities using 50 megawatts or more could create loopholes.
