What’s causing flooding along South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach?
That was the question town Public Works employees raced to answer Monday morning, as water filled the road between Via Marina and El Bravo Way — with a broken irrigation line as the cause, a town official confirmed Monday afternoon.
Palm Beach officials sent an alert Monday morning to residents, warning them of flooding in the area and the slowdown in traffic as a result.
Cars splashed through the several inches of water that covered the road, as town employees worked to direct traffic and find the flooding’s source.
Standing water in the area was first reported to the town Saturday and Sunday, said Public Works Director Paul Brazil. Members of Palm Beach’s water resources team were sent to investigate, he said.

Monday morning, those crews found a blocked exfiltration system — a drain on the side of the road that is designed to take in stormwater to prevent flooding — that could be contributing to the issue, Brazil said.
