Florida man turns $3 into $3M after claiming Mega Millions prize

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A Palm Beach County man who wagered $3 on a Mega Millions draw game, turned those few dollars into $3 million, the Florida Lottery announced Thursday.

Jose Duran, 62, of West Palm Beach claimed his multi-million dollar prize after playing the lottery back in April 2023.

His ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers, including the Megaplier options, which tripled his winnings, from the drawing held on April 11.

Duran purchased the lucky ticket from Supermercados El Bodegon, located at 4704 Forest Hill Boulevard in West Palm Beach. That retailer got a $5,000 bonus for the sale.

The next Mega Millions drawing will be held on Friday at 11 p.m., with an estimated jackpot of $47 million.

Since the inception of the game in 2013, more than $1.21 billion has been generated for education and nearly $1.9 billion in prizes.
