West Palm Beach, police union agree to three-year deal that includes big pay increases

The West Palm Beach City Commission has approved the new contract between the city and the Fraternal Order of Police, bringing another round of large pay raises to officers and nonsworn civilian employees.

With the previous three-year agreement expiring, the union and the city came to terms on a new deal that will mean a 22% pay increase for officers, sergeants and lieutenants in fiscal year 2025. The biggest part of that pay increase —17% — is a market adjustment that takes effect with the new fiscal year on Oct. 1, and the other 5% is a step pay boost that goes into effect on the employee’s work anniversary. Nonsworn civilian employees will get a 15% market adjustment and a 5% step pay increase for a total pay raise of 20%.

In 2026 and 2027, the contract, approved on Monday, Sept. 16, calls for officers, sergeants, lieutenants and nonsworn civilian employees to get a 3% cost-of-living pay increase and a 5% market rate adjustment for a total pay increase of 8%. The cost-of-living increases are the first the city will provide to police employees since 2009.
