PHOTOS: 9-foot alligator found ‘stalking’ dog walkers in Florida, officials say

STUART, Fla. ( WFLA ) — A 9-foot alligator was captured after deputies said they found the animal “stalking” dog walkers in a Florida community.

The gator initially caused concern days earlier when neighbors spotted the reptile crossing from the riverside to the beachside of Sailfish Point in Stuart, Florida, and concealing itself near a dog walking area.

On Wednesday, the gator returned to the beachside and moved into the lanai of a condominium, hiding in a patch of sea grapes.

Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the complex, deeming the animal “too close for comfort” for the community.

Sergeant Crystal Nash and Deputy Dawn Ferris, also referred to by the sheriff’s office as the “gator girls,” were able to apprehend the nearly 10-foot giant as they waited for a professional trapper.
