1969 National Enquirer Christmas Tree Postcard from Lantana, Florida

The NATIONAL ENQUIRER’s Christmas Display boasted the world’s tallest Christmas Tree, A Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga Menziesii)

It grew for 49 years in an Oregon forest and stood 120 feet high, it weighed more than 8,000 pounds, its trunk circumference at the base was 104 inches and the spread of its bottom branches was 45 feet.

The tree was shipped by rail 3,600 miles from northwest of Portland, Oregon to Lantana, Florida.

It was decorated with 15,100 lights, over a 1/2 mile of garland, 1,050 colored balls, 225 red bows and 250 candy canes and snowflakes. The silver star that topped the tree was 6 feet high.
