Hunter rescued by helicopter after falling from tree stand in Corbett Area

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Florida — A hunter who fell from a tree stand in the Corbett Area was rescued and transported to a trauma center after a collaborative effort by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and other Good Samaritans. The hunter was unable to reach their buggy to seek help, prompting a coordinated response to access the injured individual, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. While Battalion 2 units attended to the patient, nearby hunters and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission used their buggies to flatten tall grass in an open field, ensuring it was dry and flat enough for the TraumaHawk helicopter to land safely. A backup plan involving the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Eagles winching capabilities was prepared but ultimately unnecessary. The patient was successfully transported to a trauma center, stated the sheriff’s office.
