‘No foul play’ after woman’s body found at lake

Police in Juno Beach continue to investigate a body found at a local lake on Tuesday.

Chief Brian J. Smith said in a Thursday statement that he is aware of questions and concerns from the public.

Smith said the body recovered from Pelican Lake was a woman but has yet to release her identity.

At this time, police said there are no indications that foul play was involved, and there is no public safety concern.

A cause of death has not been released.

Some residents have turned to social media to ask for an increased police presence.

WPTV spoke with Smith about concerns over lighting in the area where the body was found.

“Some people in the community have emphasized they’d like brighter lights, and then there’s some people in the community who say it’s beautiful the way it is and leave it alone,” Smith said.

The chief said there’s a security camera in a nearby park, but he’s open to adding more cameras.
