Residents in western Boca Raton and Delray Beach were alarmed by a mysterious smoke odor in their neighborhoods last night, leading to multiple calls to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR). However, authorities found no fires in the area, and the cause of the smell remains unknown. According to WPBF, PBCFR responded to smoke reports starting around 7 p.m., but no flames or fires were discovered.
As per the Boca News Now, the smoke smell stretched from the Glades Road and Lyons area to Atlantic Avenue. Local fire departments, including Boca Raton Fire Rescue, monitored the situation and stayed in contact with PBCFR and the County Warning Point. The smell spread east to I-95, west to at least 441, and south to Palmetto Park Road. Crews were sent to specific locations like Via Di Veneto, Newcastle, Exeter in Century Village, and Santaluce Manor to investigate further.
While Fire Rescue teams followed up on the calls, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported no controlled burns in the area that day, though there had been some prescribed burns recently, which were said to be under control.
