JUPITER, Fla. (CBS12) — A road rage shooting investigation on Florida’s Turnpike ended after the suspect was arrested at his attorney’s office.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said troopers got involved after reports of someone being shot while driving on Florida’s Turnpike southbound on February 9. The victim told investigators the shooting occurred after 6 a.m. when the driver was changing lanes to pass slower traffic. The shooter — identified as 37-year-old Collin Hyre — driving a small silver SUV, cut off the victim, who flashed his high beams in response.
FHP said the shooter then drove behind the victim tailgating him. The arrest report stated that the victim attempted to create space by braking, hoping Hyre would also hit the brakes. As the victim searched for an exit, he heard several “popping” sounds and discovered a bullet hole in his vehicle…
