Driver found at golf lesson after hit-and-run drags cyclist in Palm Beach

PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The driver accused of dragging a bicyclist over 70 feet in a hit-and-run was found at a golf lesson at the Palm Beach Country Club.

The Palm Beach Police Department (PBPD) said Palm Beach resident, 76-year-old Ellen Schapps Richman, was arrested on Tuesday. The collision occurred around 9:27 a.m. near 700 Country Club Road.

According to the details in the arrest report, Richman was driving her 2017 Mercedes Benz GL 450 eastbound when she struck a 62-year-old man on a bicycle. Instead of stopping, she continued driving, dragging the man and his bicycle for about 71 feet before proceeding to the Palm Beach Country Club and handing her vehicle to the valet…
