A Palm Beach woman has been arrested and charged with a hit-and-run that left a cyclist seriously injured, after being found attending a golf lesson. CBS12 News reports, the incident occurred around 9:27 a.m. near 700 Country Club Road, when 76-year-old Ellen Schapps Richman struck and dragged a 62-year-old male cyclist for approximately 71 feet with her 2017 Mercedes Benz GL 450. She then left the scene to attend her scheduled golf lesson at the Palm Beach Country Club.
The cyclist suffered serious injuries, including a compound fracture to his tibia and fibula, and was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. Upon arrival at the golf club, Richman handed her keys to a valet and mentioned she thought she had hit something, according to Palm Beach Daily News.
