Coast Guard seizes $6 million worth of cocaine off the coast of Broward County

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (CBS12) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office assisted the U.S. Coast Guard in seizing 550 pounds of cocaine off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

According to USCG, the cocaine was taken from drug smugglers on Monday and had a street value of $6 million.

According to USCG’s news release, the law enforcement crew seized the 36-foot vessel and transferred the suspected smugglers to Coast Guard agents to face federal prosecution.
